Mrs.Ruth Benedict, an American author, calls this custom as "Shame Culture" in her book "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword-Patterns of Japanese Culture". But I hope we, as young Japanese living in modern world, would always convey spirit of "Bushi-dou" to next genaration.
